The computer centre of Ranchi University was established in the year 1976 at the instance of
the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Centre has installed 1 Gbps Leased connectivity
under the UGC INFIBNET Scheme. The INFLIBNET facility is provided to the teachers, research
scholars, students, and the administrative staff of the University. Computer Centre is also
maintaining the University website.
Activities
The Computer Centre in Ranchi University was sanctioned by UGC in 1976, and was setup with Mainframe Computer (Type TD-316), supplied by ECIL.

Future Plan
The Computer Centre is establishing A-View Classroom. A-View is a joint venture of MHED, Govt. of India, IIT Bombay, Amrita University, and supported by NME-ICT. This will be used for recording important lectures of the teachers of Ranchi University, which will be uploaded on the A-View database for national and international dissemination. Simultaneously, the Centre is making arrangements for live/recorded display of lectures of reputed Professors in various Universities of India and abroad on selected topics.
