University Department of History
The Post Graduate Department of History was established on 9th July 1951 and was part of Patna University . Later, it was Placed with Bihar University and finally in 1960 . It became an integral part of Ranchi University. It is one of the oldest Departments established in this part of the country for imparting higher education in history. The Department also offers two years M.A degree in archeology and Museology.

Admission Eligibility: B.A/ B.A (Hons).. Duration 2 years (Four semesters) with an exam at the end of each semester.
