To provide quality education in the field of Electronics and communication to the post-graduate students of Jharkhand and other adjoining states at an affordable cost.
To make use of resources available with the Department of physics and in other technical institutions in and around Ranchi.

Background
M.Sc. course in Electronics and communication was started from the session 2003-2004 as a self-financing course following the approval of and financial support for building up the infrastructure from Government of Jharkhand. This course was earlier approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC). With the inception of this course, we have moved forward in the direction of state Government's endeavor of making Jharkhand a high-tech state.
Infrastructure
Library: The University Department of physics, Ranchil University has a well stocked library containing around 8000 books. In addition to this, there are about 500 books for the exclusive use of the students of the Electronics and Communications Course. The following journals and on-line facilities are also available: Pramana, IEEE spectrum, IEEE
Transactions on Instrumentation and measurements, IETE Technical Journal, IEEE Bibliography on line and IEEE explore services, IETE Technical Review, Journal of Instrumentation society of India. The library is constantly being enriched with current books in the field of Electronics and communication and other related areas.
Laboratories: Besides the general laboratories, the Department has a fairly well equipped Electronics and communication laboratory.
Faculty: The Core faculty consists of teachers of the Department. In addition, there are Guest Faculties and Resource persons from institutes of repute in and around Ranchi.
Placement: A placement cell has been constituted to arrange for the campus selection of students of the department in various industries and R & D organizations. COURSE
Degree: M. Sc. In Electronics and Communication which is equivalent to Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (BE) DURATION: Two full academic years consisting of Four Semesters.
Examinations: In each Semester, there shall be three Mid-Semester Examinations (MSE) and one End Semester Examinations (ESE) in each paper according to the academic calendar of Ranchi University, Ranchi.
Fee: Rs. 20,0000.00 per annum to be paid in one installment at the time of admission.
Number of Seats : 30 (Thirty)
Eligibility: Students who have passed three year B.Sc. (Honours) course in physics/Electronics from any recognized University / Institute are eligible to apply for admission.
Admission Procedure : Admission to the course is based on the merit of the applicants. The admission process includes:

Personal Interview
Weightage of marks obtained at the B.Sc. level.
Reservation : The reservation policy of the Government of Jharkhand as followed by the Ranchi University will be adhered to.
